ABOUT THE GC LAB
THE VISION
The parable of the Elephant in the Dark has been with humankind for at least 2,500 years. It tells us that the best way — and sometimes the only way — to understand a puzzle is to examine it from a number of perspectives. At the Global Challenges Lab, we believe that this applies to today’s most urgent global challenges. And that no challenge is more urgent than those described in the UN's Sustainable Development Goals.
THE MISSION
The Global Challenges Lab is made up of researchers from RWTH Aachen University. We bring researchers from diverse disciplines together, alongside civil society, industry, and policy makers, to seek out concrete answers to society’s most pressing questions. Impactful findings are published and spark further research, lead to new methods and new approaches in business and industry, inform policy, and nurture new generations of practitioners and academics.
